Columbia Student Film Maker, Elisabeth Simon explains what she looks for when
searching for an actor for a film.
Generally I look for someone who is outgoing and self-confidant. The most
important factor besides talent is ambition. I want someone who is willing to do
whatever it takes to get the film where it needs to be. I need someone who is
dependable and will be there at a 5 A.M. shoot that could last til 10 P.M. If
you flake on someone weather it be for an audition or an actual shoot , your
name will get passed around. People do talk and could possibly black list you. So
just make sure you keep your word.
That all follows under being a professional. Make sure your prepared for your audition.
Have your headshot and monologue ready, and don't waste anyone's time. The
second they see your not prepared, any chances you may have had are gone.
