Word of Mouth with Ludacris
_________________________
As you will see in the next few pages, word of mouth marketing comes from a
source. The source I lived was radio. For instance, labor day weekend,
Ludacris, Lil Mo, Trina, Master P, and a handful of security came up to Power 96
during the course of a day. We taped testimonial interviews with the
artists that I later added to a web site to talk about on the radio. The word of
mouth, the radio, and the interviews themselves that forced word of mouth, were
enough to drive 20,000 people to the web site to hear the different interviews.
In any case, use whatever resources you have to harness a solid foundation of
information that you can promote to future fans.
1. Can you tell people how word of mouth exposure works ?
Before I was doing albums, I was working at a radio
station in Atlanta. I would spend all my time I could get in the production
studio. When artists came up to do interviews and appearances I would let em
hear my material. Word of mouth spread through the business quick that there was
a smooth flowing &^#&^ in Atlanta named Ludacris. This is how word of mouth
works. If you got skills, people will catch on and spread it like wildfire, but
that means you got to be out there !
Not everyone including yourself will have a radio station or artists to use as a
source, but you do have the talent and the knowledge to do things smart. Word of
mouth marketing is one of the strongest forms of marketing yourself, it is the
eyes and ears of your friends and fans that will take you to the next level if
you plan ahead and keep your name safe.
The next section of marketing is the fastest growing way to market yourself, product, artistic form etc.......
