_______________
August 2nd, 2004 was one day like no other for both John Kerry supporters, and
Nirvana / Foo Fighter fans. Word of mouth chit chat had made it all around
Wisconsin in less than a weeks time that David Grohl formerly of Nirvana, and
currently fronting his band the Foo Fighters, would step off
his majestic tour bus at 6:45 PM and creep to the Marquette Park stage across
from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Building, downtown Milwaukee, Wi. and
entertain his fans for a cause. This is not only the work of an artist that
shows great responsibility by standing up for a cause he believes in, but a
musician that knows he can make a difference. I was only able to ask 2 questions
to David Grohl, because of the time constraints and the secret service / security, however the questions
and answers below are yours to learn from. Sorry there wasn't time for more,
maybe in the future.....
1. Can you feel the impact you have that was created by word of mouth as to why
you are here in Milwaukee for this campaign event ?
Yes, and it is a blessing. For security reasons, we
just recently offered the media details as to me being here in Milwaukee for
this event. I am glad to make such an impact on fans that might not have
otherwise come out to see who could possibly be our next President. I am
certainly glad to be a part of such a historical event and I am glad to see my
fans appreciate it as well.
2. Can you offer any advice to up and coming artists as to how they can
make themselves better artists ?
My advice to up and comers, do what you love, and love what you do. As long as
you are in tune with yourself and what you are trying to accomplish, everything
else will fall into place.
Needless to say, David Grohl's appearance definitely brought people, that might otherwise have not come. Foo Fighters and past Nirvana fans ventured to the Marquette Park Pavillion to witness his artistic talent as well as see John Kerry speak. It is safe to say that you will now see artists follow in the footsteps of David Grohl, IE Bruce S ( The Boss ) and Dave Mathews as well. Let it be known that David Grohl did in fact create a part of history in the making, thanks to the good old "Word of Mouth " promotions and networking of artists and government support from within !
