Advice to Models
______________

#1 If you are new to modeling, as in an amateur, take the first few years of modeling as a hobby. Regardless of how tall you are, weight, etc.... there are modeling jobs available for all  who take on modeling with a true focus and desire to succeed in the business. Modeling is like acting in a sense, there are so many different roles to play in the business that you have to take time and find the role you feel is the best for you to play.

#2 Find a support group you can trust, IE mother father sister brother. This way you can find a good photographer, and start to develop a portfolio of your own. Never go out alone on shoots when you start out, and never allow your pictures to be kept by anyone without written consent.

#2a Never take a job without a written contract that gives you full details about exactly what the shoot entails. If you are doing your first shoot with a new photographer, ask for it to be an out door shoot in a public place, especially if your working with an independent contractor verses a major company!

#3 As in the book, you can start networking today. One way to get the right contacts is to call store headquarters and ask who is in the position to seek out and find models for work the company does. IE calling the Gap or The Buckle and finding out who the marketing director is.

#4 Always keep up to date on the current styles, clothing fashion, and the reason why the failing fashions have failed. This will help you be more conscious of what kind of shoots you try to pull off in the future.

#5 Lastly, be out in the public's eye at all times. Offer your work to companies free if you have to, this is for exposure of yourself. The better the portfolio you build, the better you become as an asset to the business your in. Seek out clubs, bars, restaurants, and out door events groups, all of these promotions based companies need models for ads, flyers, and posters. Offering your work to these companies can also help you build yourself up.
