Ask Questions, Always !

The better you ask questions, the better knowledge you will get to market yourself to the right people. I just re wrote this opening paragraph of this book after an experience I had this afternoon with my truck. I was out driving to work when my engine light came on in my truck, and of course I felt sick just like you do when some type of bad news hits you. I immediately took my truck to Mitsubishi to get an estimate, but it was a Saturday and the shop was closed. I did however talk to a mechanic that worked on the trucks who was in the shop doing some extra work, and after explaining the problem to him he said I should get a system check done on my truck which would roughly cost about $80.00 and then he would know the problem. I also told him my truck was in store for a transmission fluid change which he said would cost about $120.00 total. So, now were looking at at least $200.00 that I have to spend come Monday. On my way back from Mitsubishi I passed a sign that said 50% off Oil Changes today only. I had accidentally pulled into the lot to read the information on the sign, however it did peak my curiosity to see if they did Transmission Fuel changes. In asking about the service, I got the Transmission Fuel change for $40.00 and a free system check that Valvoline offers there customers. Basically by asking a simple question, I saved $160.00 and found that my truck engine light came on because of a simple hose leak.

Although, this has nothing to do with marketing in entertainment, it does have a lot to do with how marketing works. Marketing yourself means you are eventually going to be selling yourself, or promoting yourself.... As you build up your creative side, your art form, your craft, and your ability, you want to learn to selectively promote yourself to people that you are sure will care about what you have to offer. In other words, marketing merely means, to ask questions, study what you learn, and use that information to best sell yourself to the right people !
