Since every gay and their cat and dog
is anticipating the gay movie event of the year DREAMGIRLS,
I thought I'd tell you what I was lucky enough to catch a
test screening in San Diego last night.... and let me tell
you it's all what we hoped for and then some. Not only are
the queens going to have a field day with it, but it's going
to reach out to an extremely large audience. It's the most
accessible musical in years.
Beyonce, well let's just say I think its
clear she put all her energy into this movie and had none
left over for her album (judging by the crass releases so
far). She's quite stunning to watch. The role of Deena has
never been a deep one, but Beyonce does what the part
requires and she DOES act. Her vocals are out of this world!
She has never looked more gorgeous, and she acts like a
total bitch.... wait a minute isn't she just playing
herself? Oh, well, it works.
Welcome back Eddie Murphy! I thought you
had succumb to dodgy kids flicks for the rest of your
career. This a return to pure Eddie. In fact, it's probably
his best performance. He sings, he dances, and he's
hilarious to boot. Sure it's a bit creepy watching him
salivate over gorgeous newcomer Anika Noni Rose,
but it adds to the charm of his character..
I have saved the best for last.... Jennifer Mother F
' ng Hudson.... this has to be the most unexpected
performance I have seen in like years. This is one of those
newcomer performances that comes along in a blue moon.
Everything the queens came to worship the character of Effie
for are beautifully realized by Hudson. She yells, she
screams, and she tells Jamie Foxx to shut
up (what most of us want to do but haven't plucked up the
courage).One of the best
scenes in the film involves her finding out she has been
kicked out of the group, in favour of Bee. She rants, she's
practically about ready to punch Beyonce and Jamie Foxx out,
and then they abandon her.... and the song comes... yes the
song that everyone was wondering "Could she do justice to
it?" Well she does and then some. Every word, every note, is
so perfectly created it's just thrilling to watch.... this
is gonna get her an Oscar nomination. Ironic isn't it? Take
that Fantasia.
All in all, your gonna adore this flick. Bill Condon
has done wonders with this 25 year old musical and has made
it a living, breathing cinematic event... did I mention
Jennifer Hudson is a mother fuckin' star?

Brandy to face ch ch charges ????

So here is another story that was kept on the DL because
charges were never brought to the table... mainly because after the
accident the families involved were more concerned with the death in
the family than the cause of the accident... kinda like spilling
milk, first you clean it up, then figure out how you made it
happen....... Sooo if you are asking yourself why it happened so
long ago and nobody said anything, that is probably the most logical
answer .... Sooooo what happened on December 30th, 2006 ??
Brandy, who is 27, was driving
a Land Rover on Interstate 405 on Dec. 30 when traffic slowed and
her vehicle struck the back of Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, 38,
according to a CHP report. It is not said whether or not Brandy was
chatting it up on a cell call..... But regardless she wasn't
paying too close attention to follow the flow of traffic as it
slowed down..... ( in my oppinion, that is not a good thing when you
are being judged on your every move )
Aboudihaj's car hit another
vehicle, slid sideways into the center divider and was then hit by
another car, according to the report said. Aboudihaj died at a
hospital from the injuries, according to the coroner's
office.... blunt-forced injuries.....

obviously need to examine
within my own soul, and

know the power of words,
especially those that

disrespect, I have hurt
more than T.R. and my
colleagues. With one word,
I've hurt everyone who has
struggled for the respect
so many of us take for

apologize in person and to

entire episode speaks to
his tremendous character.

comes a day after NBC
issued this
statement:
"We have a long
standing policy to create
and maintain respectful
workplaces for all our
employees. We dealt with
the original situation in
October, and thought the
issue resolved. Therefore,
we are greatly dismayed
that Mr. Washington chose
to use such inappropriate
language at the Golden
Globes, that he himself
deemed
"unfortunate" in
his previous public
apology. We take this
situation very seriously,
and his actions
are unacceptable and are
being addressed."
Isaiah
Washington's
actions and anti gay
remarks are already
showing that they can
damage ratings, so now the
whole show suffers......I
can honestly say I am NOT
a that words of hatred can
damage viwers perception
of a show, when the show
consists of an actor or
actors that are known to
spew hatred towards
religion, beliefs,
etc........
IE, how would you feel if
your favorite TV show
consisted of actors that
openly confessed they went
home every night, put on
white KKK uniforms and
burnt down churches....
you would stop watching
the show ... or 99%
would... well this is no
different....
If Isaiah
Washington's comments had
been racial and not
gay-oriented, he would
have been fired instantly

Taking a quantum leap back to the days of Quantum

Merv Griffin will

It's not quite Vegas, but CBS is heading to Nevada
for a musical drama entitled Viva Laughlin, which centers around a

Lifetime has optioned Kim Edwards' novel

Memory Keeper's Daughter which has gone through 20 printings and

Animal Planet will premiere its first ever
on-air/online series, Saving Grace, on March 2nd. The show, which

Associated Press recently,
Simpson said, "I'm saying
it's a fictional creation.
It has so many factual holes
in it that anybody who knew
anything about it would know
that I didn't write it." He
goes on to explain that much
of the book was penned by an
unnamed ghostwriter. The
interview comes as
Newsweek is releasing a
story paraphrasing a chapter
of the book it obtained from
an anonymous source. As you
may or may not be aware of,
the book was pulled from
HarperCollins release
schedules, a FOX network
special on the book was
canceled, and the book's
publisher, Judith Regan,
was axed..........

Kanye's goal, to spazz out at the
Emmys... get this.... Kanye West recently shared details
of the HBO show he's developing with Borat director
Larry Charles ( nut job ) and producer Rick
Rubin. Contrary to reports you may have seen on
line in previous weeks.... , it's not a reality-based series
at all. Kanye shows a little arrogance as he says , "I
wouldn't do something as cliche as a reality show. At least
give me the credit for being more creative than that. It's a
situational half-hour comedy. It's fictional and loosely
based on my life." Apparently he's been working on the
show with Charles and Rubin for the past couple years. He

Johnny Depp has bought the rights to the story of Alexander
Litvinenko, the former Russian spy whose poisoning death touched off
an international mystery. Depp will produce the film and could star in
it, according to Variety.
CBS announced that Lily Punch, who played the high-strung
news anchor, has left the series. The Class has its first drop-out.
The network issued a statement saying that "due to creative changes, Lily is
no longer a cast member. She did a superb job and we hope to work with her
again in the near future."
Former X-Files star Annabeth Gish and husband Wade Allen
welcomed a son, Cash Alexander, on Friday morning. It is the first

Bravo has brought down the curtain on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
by announcing that it will conclude the show's four-year run with a
10-episode final season that will run this summer.

Dancing With the Stars champ and Family Feud host
John O'Hurley has signed on to star in the Las Vegas production of
Monty Python's Spamalot. The show opens at Wynn Las Vegas on March 31st.

NBC will bring the hit Australian sitcom Kath and Kim about a

The Discovery Channel will devote the evening of April 29th to a series

Jason Bateman
has been cast opposite Will Smith in the superhero drama Tonight,

The Directors Guild of America announced its

Variety reports
that Stephen Dorff has signed on to his first dramatic TV series

Melissa Joan Hart

Sex and the City
creator Candace Bushnell has signed on to produce a new series
entitled Lipstick Jungle for NBC.
Cashmere Mafia,
a show that transplants the Desperate Housewives spirit into the
world of New York City high fashion, has been added to ABC's fall schedule.
AandE is ready to cop out by adding a pair of
new police dramas to its fall slate. Dry River will focus on
competition between members of a law enforcement family in a wealthy Texas
town, while The Hunt is set in a scandal-ridden LA police precinct.
According to the Hollywood Reporter,
producers are putting together a sequel to the 1963 caper comedy It's a
Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. No cast members have been announced, but George
Barris the designer behind such famed screen vehicles as the
Batmobile and KITT, the car from Knight Rider is creating cars
for the movie.
Charlie Matthau
will direct a film adaptation of Freaky Deaky, a novel by Elmore
Leonard, whose work was the basis of hits such as Jackie Brown
and Get Shorty.
Patrick Dempsey
will be a presenter at the first annual Speed Performance Awards, a
motorsports award show that will air February 8th on Speed TV.
The Film
Society of Lincoln Center will honor Forest Whitaker on January
19th and 20th, screening several of his films including Ghost Dog
and Bird and offering an audience the chance to take part in a

Cartoonist Iwao Takamoto, best known for
creating the character of "Scooby-Doo," died Monday at a Los

it, and have been slipping onto the stage whenever I've had

time getting their head around it, because there's no career
template for a singer-songwriter-comedy writer. Also because
it's a dumb idea. But I've been sticking with it in hopes
that it takes me to a new level, creatively. It

Film Critics named the Spanish language movie Pan's Labyrinth
the Best Film of 2006 on Saturday. Forest Whitaker was
named Best Actor for playing late Uganda dictator Idi Amin in
The Last King of Scotland, while Helen Mirren took Best
Actress honors for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth the Second
in The Queen.
Tom Sizemore has joined the ranks of
troubled has-beens on the reality-show circuit, you know the dudes working
at Burger King in the Valley, you can meet em all if you look hard
enough....... . The Saving Private Ryan star will headline
Shooting Sizemore, which follows him to court to fight a battery charge,
and to Canada to shoot a horror flick.
Actress Jennifer Morrison and actor Jesse
Spencer, who co-star on FOX's hit medical drama House, are
engaged. The couple, who met on the set of the medical drama, have yet to
set a wedding date.
Rainn Wilson of The Office will play
the title role in Kanan Rhodes: Unkillable Servant of Justice,
an action comedy that's being described as The Pink Panther meets
Ace Ventura.
Horror fans are in for quite a shock - thanks to an
upcoming remake of the shlock classic The Tingler. The 1959 original
starred Vincent Price, and hit theaters with an odd special effect -
seats outfitted to give viewers a "tingle" during tense moments on-screen.
Without a Trace creator Hank Greenberg
has signed a "high seven figure" deal with NBC. According to Variety,
the contract is the priciest in the network's history.
More than two years after premiering at the
Toronto Film Festival, the Rwandan genocide movie Shooting Dogs
will hit American theaters. The film, which has been retitled Beyond the
Gates, will open on March 9th.
Casino Royale and The Queen, lead the
list for the British Academy Film Awards with 14 entries each, the
organization has revealed. Other multiple-nominees include Pan's
Labyrinth, Babel, Children of Men and The Departed,
with 13 nominations each, The Last King of Scotland and Little
Miss Sunshine with 12, and Volver and Dreamgirls with 10.
The Writers' Guild of America will award its
annual Lifetime Achievement Award to Andrew Bergman,
who penned screenplays for The In-Laws, Fletch and many other
classic film comedies. He'll collect his statuette on February 11th at the
Guild's annual gathering in New York.
Two more film critics organizations have coughed up
their best picture picks. The Austin Film Critics Organization and The
Kansas City Film Critics Circle both gave their top prize to United
93.
The motion picture Ratings Appeal Board has
rejected Paramount's attempt to get the upcoming Eddie Murphy comedy,
Norbit, a PG-13 rather than the R rating it's been saddled with.
Paramount will attempt to trim the nasty bits out of the film and resubmit
it.
Gossip Girl, a
series set in the world of New York City teens and their parents, is coming
to the CW.
The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet,
a talk show hosted by Mike Jerrick and Juliet Huddy, debuts on
FOX on January 22nd. It's looking to give Live With Regis and Kelly
a run for its money.
A guest slot on The L Word is being
auctioned off on E-Bay to benefit the nonprofit organization Queer Lounge,
which sets up hospitality suites at film festivals to educate attendees
about films with gay content.
The Good Shepherd
and The Good German are the American films that will be in
competition for the Golden Bear Award at next month's Berlin Film
Festival.
Blue's Room, a Blue's
Clues spin-off, bows on Nick Junior on January 26th.

Actress Teri Garr is recovering from surgery

have been forced to cancel his 10-week engagement this
summer after Gallagher was accused of cursing at and pushing
an employee at the Moe Bandy Theater.
Frank Stanton, a
broadcasting pioneer and CBS president for 26 years a

reports that "Black Ty" is facing allegations of punching his
pregnant girlfriend twice in the stomach early yesterday morning.
According to authorities in LA, Tyrese's girlfriend claims that the
two got into a heated argument at their home in LA. Paramedics
arrived after Tyrese allegedly fled the scene. ....
I am just wondering, when was Tyrese Thuggin ? I mean when he was
13, he was rolling around in a Coke commercial..... like have a coke
